| May 22-23, 2013 Wednesday and Thursday or May 23-24, 2013 Thursday and Friday | The School Threat Evaluation Program (STEP) training will be held at the University of Illinois at Springfield. On behalf of the Illinois State Police and Illinois Emergency Management Agency, you and members of your school or organization are invited to attend a specialized training seminar providing an introduction to school threat assessments for those who work in the K-12 school environment. Because of popular demand, the training is being offered in two sessions: Session 1 is May 22-23, and Session 2 is May 23-24. Due to limited space, we are encouraging registrants to attend the session that corresponds to their Regional Office of Education Area and/or their county. Session 1: Areas 1, 2 and 6 Session 2: Areas 3, 4 and 5 (Please refer to map link on the registration website to identify your Area.) STEP training will provide school administrators, teachers, resource officers, social workers, counselors and local law enforcement with techniques to identify students who pose a legitimate threat to themselves and others, as well as methods to better utilize information sources in the assessment process.
