Jennifer Schultz
Jennifer Schultz. One of the true benefits of being a leader in this organization is the opportunity to work closely with, and benefit from the experience of, some very talented, passionate, and committed individuals. When I joined ISPA leadership four years ago, there were a number of individuals to whom I have turned when I needed assistance. As President of this organization, I have the opportunity to publically recognize and thank individuals who have made outstanding leadership contributions to ISPA in particular and to the profession in general and, in the process, have inspired and supported me in my leadership efforts. This year’s recipient of the ISPA Presidential Award, Jennifer Schultz, was not well known to me when I became a Regional Director. However, I soon came to respect and appreciate her leadership skills, the depth of her knowledge, her intellect, the strength of her commitment, her passion, and her fun-loving nature. As a past Regional Director, then President-Elect, and now as President, I have benefitted from her insight and support.

Jennifer has an impressive level of dedication and commitment to our profession. She has been actively involved in ISPA leadership since 2006, beginning as a Regional Director, and then added to her responsibilities by becoming the Liaison to the Executive Committee. During her time as an RD and liaison, she helped to increase the roles and functions of RDs. She effectively brought RDs together in roundtable discussions and through her leadership, support to and communication between RDs increased. In addition to her role as an RD, she spearheaded the Credentialing Task Force for school psychologists, developing materials to assist school psychologists during the certificate renewal process and was instrumental in the development of a High School ListServ. She is a go-to person, full of energy, and incredibly committed and passionate about serving both our professional organization and the students at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. Although she takes her profession very seriously, she is one of the most fun-loving persons I’ve met and has a wonderful sense of humor. She has often referred to Convention time as her “ISPA-cation” and values the time for networking as much as the professional development that convention offers.
