We hope this message finds you doing well. We are currently Ed.S. students in the school psychology program at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), working under the guidance of faculty members Drs. Todd A. Savage and Scott Woitaszewski. We are contacting you regarding a research opportunity we believe would be beneficial to your membership. We are investigating school psychologists' attitudes toward and experiences working with transgender students, a topic that to our knowledge has not been
previously explored. This research is being conducted in partial fulfillment of the Ed.S. degree in school psychology at UWRF.
Participants in this study will take a 15-20 minute online survey.
Furthermore, we would be inviting a total of 8-12 respondents to follow up with an over-the-phone interview about transgender issues and schools, if they so choose. Participant responses on the online portion will be anonymous and confidential; should people participate in the phone interview, those responses would be treated confidentially. These data will be analyzed and incorporated into a manuscript intended for publication and or professional presentation. Again, no one respondent will be identified in any of these reporting methods. There is no cost associated with participating in this study and participants will not be paid or remunerated in any other way. There are no known risks for participating in this study.
A potential benefit to the respondent is the opportunity for her or him to reflect on a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant for school psychologists. This study has been approved by our university's Human
Subjects Institutional Review Board (Protocol Number H20110-WO65).
