J. Michael Havey has had a tremendous impact on the children of Illinois. Mike is truly humble and may not fully realize the scope of his influence on the practice of school psychology within Illinois. In addition to training hundreds of school psychologists who are working in district scattered across the state, he has found the time to diligently serve ISPA. Mike served as President of the association, and was highly influential in the restructuring of the Governing Board in the early part of this decade. Mike has also volunteered to serve as coordinator of workshops for both the convention and fall workshop. He has been able to bring nationally renowned speakers to Illinois at a time when most states use presenters from within their own boundaries. Mike is adored by his former students and is looked upon as a mentor and friend. For all of these reasons, Blake Martin was proud to present Mike with a 2008 ISPA President’s Award.
